Description: John Major and Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Thatcher: Born in October 1925, in Grantham, England, she was the United Kingdom’s first female Prime Minister. Thatcher held the office for longer than anyone in the 20th century. Her term in the PM’s office lasted from 1979-90 in which she led the country through the Falklands war. She did all of this with a no nonsense approach which earned her the nickname "The Iron Lady". She was elected for three consecutive terms, until discontent within the party forced her to resign in 1990.
