Lance Armstrong: Born in Plano, Texas, September 1971, Lance has won the prestigious Tour de France an unprecedented seven straight times (1999-2005) breaking the previous record of five victories. Armstrong is equally renowned for surviving cancer. In 1996 he discovered that he had testicular cancer, which had spread to his brain and lungs. After surgery and heavy chemotherapy, Lance returned to cycling in 1997, winning his first title within the next two years. In 2005 he announced that he would retire from competitive racing after winning the Tour de France for his seventh time. He is married to the singer Sheryl Crow.
