Michael Schumacher: Born in Hurth, Germany, January 1969, teenage Michael was the German and European Karting Champion in 1987. He was racing Formula 1 cars by 1991, and won his first Grand Prix a year later. Schumacher won his first World Champion title in 1994 with Benetton, whom he stayed with for four years before moving to Ferrari. In 2000 he won them their first world title in 21 years. A dominant force in the sport of Formula 1 racing, Michael has gone on to numerous race victories and eight World Championship titles.

Rubens Barrichello: Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil (May 1972). He won five karting titles in Brazil before going to Europe and the Formula Lotus series in 1990. In his first year, he won the championship, a feat he replicated the following year in the British Formula 3 Championship, beating a young David Coulthard. He very nearly joined Formula One aged just 19, but joined Formula 3000 instead. He joined the Jordan Formula One team for the 1993 season. In 1997 he moved to newly formed Stewart GP team and while he struggled in his first two years with Jackie Stewart's team, he managed to finish seventh in the 1999 Championship. This was enough for Ferrari to sign him as their "number two" driver behind Michael Schumacher in the 2000 season. He achieved his first victory in Hockenheim that year in his 128th race, the longest wait for a driver's maiden win. During the 2005 Formula One season he was becoming increasingly agitated at having to be so subservient to Schumacher. In August 2005 he announced that he would be leaving Ferrari at the end of the 2005 F1 season to join BAR.
